Course Description

"(Prerequisite: Math 113 Precalculus II or Math 114H Precalculus Honors) This is the first course in Computer Science for transfer students. The programming language Java will be taught in conjunction with problem solving methods, algorithm development, and object-oriented design. Topics include data types, control structures, classes, objects, methods, file processing, recursion, and introduction to data structures" RVCC Catalog

This course assumes no prior programming experience. This course is an intensive introduction to Programming and to the field of Computer Science.

Some students may have already had the class CISY/CSIT 103 Computer Concepts and Programming or programmed in high school in C++ or Java and may find the programming easier.

There is no access code for the Author Resources site to get:

• "Source Code" from the 5th edition of the Book
• Solutions to odd numbered review questions from the 5th edition of the book

Optional(cost):

"Video notes" require an access code.

• "Video notes" are little videos where the author narrates as he solves a programming problem from the book
• The book in the bookstore has an access code to access the author's video notes at the Author Resources site.
• That access code for the video notes can be purchased from Prentice Hall Website for $24 (old price )

Note: This class does NOT use myprogramming lab which is a different resource and is more expensive $42.40(old price)
