Our classroom has the software we need. There will be enough time in class to work on the In-Class Labs.
For the projects, you will need access to a computer outside of classtime. The open lab on campus has the software we need, but is only open 6 days a week ( see the schedule outside the Open Lab for the exact days/times )
If you want to use your laptop in the classroom and/or you want to use your computer at home, you can install the software yourself.
The software is in 2 pieces: Java JDK 18 (download file is ~155 MB; footprint is ~290 MB) and NetBeans 14 (download file is ~440 MB; foorptint is ~810 MB)
Total footprint for the installation software is ~1.1 GB.
Note: The Java JDK must be installed first
In case either link is broken, this pdf shows the navigation to the download pages Downloading and Installing Java JDK 18 and NetBeans 14
These "notes" are for 64-bit Windows...The software can run on the Mac/Linux, but the installation is different.
To test the installation, write the Hello World program. Using Hello World to test the Java JDK / NetBeans 14 Installation
